Rachele Cermak | Life Stream & Portfolio

About Me

My name is Rachele Cermak. I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  I graduated May of ’08 with a degree in journalism from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. Senior year I realized that my career objectives to become a broadcast news journalist needed to change because it wasn’t my true passion. Through some self-realization after college, I found that it was  interactive marketing.

I love sharing stories – just journalism wasn’t the way I wanted to do it. Currently, I am the Marketing Manager at Keefer Court Food – Fortune Cookie Division. Before I became employed with them, I was a freelance Web Integrator. For two years after college I helped build bridges for people to become active online users for themselves and their businesses.

For the last seven years I’ve worked for the Minneapolis Farmers Market as their on-site customer support person in the office. As I progressed in my maturity and education they hired me to be their Creative Coordinator two years ago. I’ve put together their bi-annual member newsletter, designed their brochure and am the producer and voice for their radio commercials. I am also in charge of updating their Web site (a constant task since they don’t have a CMS for the entire site). I’ve remapped their site’s navigational structure, helped incorporate social media into the marketing strategies and am currently setting up a blog so any vendor anywhere can log on and post an update about the season.

In May 2009, I completed a Web development and editorial internship with Alive Magazine. I worked with their Executive Director to put her ideas into action on the Web site. After she created her plan on paper, I streamlined the online membership process to better serve the organization. I also helped writers polish their submitted stories to be included in the publication.

In Feburary 2009, I was a Web marketing intern for the MS Society, Minnesota Chapter. There I created a video based micro-donation campaign, which stressed the importance five dollars will make. It launched during MS Awareness Week.  The video was hosted on YouTube and embedded on the Minnesota Chapter’s Website. During my time there I also took part in the creation of E-newsletters, Web site updates and the site switch to a different content management system.

When I was in college, I worked for the Wake Magazine as an assistant editor. I’ve also helped out MPIRG with their Statewatch newsletter.
